What this sculpture is really about is not the prostrate girl, but the shape the sculpture has been given. The bronze figure has been placed on its side. That is why the legs and the folds of the skirt stand out so comically. So the emphasisis on the fact that there are two things; the subject on the one hand, and on the other the bronze shape, the language of the sculptor. This adds a dimension to the sculpture.
